Sunday Brunch at Le Gros Jambon
After reading a review of this place on WordPress, K & I decided to try it out 2 weeks ago and we were not disappointed.
It is located in Old Montreal; one of my favorite places to hang out on the weekend. We were expecting a line up when we got there, but we were in luck and got seated right away.
I was immediately taken in by the diner style of the place. I loved that there were no tables and only lunch counters to sit at.
While sipping on our coffees, K & I began to look over the menu; we originally were both going to have breakfast, however, K changed his mind and ordered from the lunch menu.
I was going to order their renowned fried chicken and waffle dish, but K had made fried chicken the night before, so I ended up ordering the 2 Eggs your way with well done bacon. It comes with beans and an delicious potato patty made from mashed potatoes and has green onion in it. I ate every bite and was still full around dinner time.
K ordered the build your own taco Chicken Taco dish and thoroughly enjoyed it. It came with salsa, guacamole and sour cream. I took a bite of the fried chicken and it was very good and crispy (which I love).
Overall, we really enjoyed our meal at Le Gros Jambon: service was great and friendly. The prices are comparable to other brunch places.
The only fault I could find was the coffee; I found to be not strong enough for my taste.
Le Gros Jambom
Address: 286 Notre Dame East, Old Montreal
How to get there: Take the metro orange line and get off at Place D’Armes . At the exit, turn right and walk to Notre Dame St. Then, right again and keep walking for a few blocks.
I recommend taking public transit as parking in that area can be tricky and costly if you end up in a parking lot.
